China's Software & IT Services Market Tops 37 Billion Yuan in the 3rd Quarter

China's software and IT service market increased to 37.059 billion yuan in the third quarter with a year-on-year rise of 18.4 percent, according to Xinhua.

Software sales rose 19.1 percent in the period to 15 billion yuan and the IT service market hit 22 billion yuan, up 18 percent.

Sales of platform software totalled 3.6 billion yuan. Notably, sales of LINUX topped 29 million yuan, an increase of 33.1 percent from last year. However, the Linux market share in the non-embedded operation system market is still only about 2 percent.

Network security products were up 29.4 percent, while the IT service market totalled 22.059 billion yuan with a year-on-year rise of 18 percent.

According to the report, online services, internet advertisements, online games and search engines have become the major forces within the market.
