Case Study One
Improve the quality of software product

Challenge

A major workflow management software provider required an upgrade of their software product based on new demand in the market and new technology in software industry.
A new architecture was needed and quality improvements planned. The client decided to launch a program to respond to these challenges but tight resources demanded a new approach. The new architecture should be designed and implemented quickly. The new product release should be on the market as soon as possible. The customer needed to respond more quickly and effectively than ever in a competitive market. More resources
were needed within the organization to resolve those problems while reducing costs to implement the planned changes.

Solution

The client chose Huatek as their outsourcing service partner, working directly with own engineers.

Huatek was assigned responsibility for quality improvement of existing software. A team of experienced professionals from the Huatek China staff was assembled and dedicated to the client project, working on-site with client when necessary. The project also incorporated Huatek's own tools for tracking and improving defective software. The team applied Huatek own software for measuring the effectiveness of its contribution to the project.

Huatek created a web-based management tool for all team participants to interactively arrange and track all project tasks. The client and Huatek management were able to quickly determine the status of the program at any time through the Internet.

Huatek provided experienced release managers, who understood the client's product life cycle and release strategy. They worked closely with the client release managers and project managers to submit deliverables on time and comply with quality requirements.

Human resource management projects

Challenge

One of the world's leading providers of Human Resource Management Systems and Services was experiencing widely fluctuating demand from their customers for project resources. Their services include benefits and payroll processing, payroll and business tax management, brokerage industry desktop productivity tools, and investor communication services. The client needed to maintain quality and responsiveness, without incurring the additional costs required to add permanent software engineering staff.

Solution

The client chose Huatek as their partner, acting as an extension to their current project staff. Huatek built a team of skilled software engineers to field the excess workload from the client. Specifications were exchanged between the two partners and a solid working relationship evolved. As project requirements were identified, the client communicated these to the Huatek team in China. Huatek engineers were involved in producing the software as well as client integration and testing.

Pharmaceutical systems integration challenge

Challenge

A leading U.S. pharmaceutical company faced two major issues:

· How to integrate and web-enable its systems and give the management team access to critical information
· How to increase responsiveness to change requests from manufacturing

And as always, they were under pressure to keep costs low in a highly competitive pharmaceutical market.

Solution

The client chose Huatek as its partner to work alongside its own systems staff to create new software and integrate existing systems to achieve its goals.

With members at the client site, the Huatek team familiarized itself with pharmaceutical processes. Analyzing the requirements along side the customer team, they were able to propose technical solutions and quickly implement the development with staff in China. Huatek followed the client's QA process to make ensure a quality delivery, following FDA regulations. Huatek focuses on:

• Online automation control related CR analysis, design and implementing. By following customer standard Automation Change Control process, Huatek engineers design, implement, test and deploy the changes.

• Manufacturing process management web-application development, which enables different departments to collaborate their process and automats their manufacturing process.

• Integrate the DeltaV database with the web-application to enable management team to access the manufacturing data, which enables them to quicken their decision-making.

Huatek's software development expertise complemented the customer's domain expertise and enabled the customer to focus on other core business needs. Changes were implemented as planned and high quality systems were put into use. Management now has universal access to information and requests from manufacturing are fielded more rapidly than ever.
